Les
I started Dragonfly Ponds back in 2005. 18 years of my own trial and error and thousands of repairs later on other pond builder’s creations, I have gained a lot knowledge to deal with a wide range of pond issues.
Dragonfly started because I have always enjoyed working with water. Who knew my first ponds would be recreating the Revelstoke Dam with Tonka toys as a kid? That fascination with creating with water has continued to this day. I was blessed with a creative brain and I get a tremendous level of satisfaction building or rebuilding water features and seeing how much the clients enjoy what I have created for them.
I am also very impressed how large the Dragonfly family has grown over the years, and the best part is most of the people we have worked with are still regular clients, even those we built features for 18 years ago.
Personally: I have a large collection of plants (agaves, cactus, aloes and much more). I enjoy hanging out in my greenhouse and working on my plants. Jen and I enjoy getting out for hikes with Solo and getting out on the lakes with the amazing wooden Kayaks Jen’s dad built for us. I was born on Halloween and I enjoy it immensely. We put up a large display each year at my sister’s house in Ellison.

Jen (Pond Mermaid)
Jen joined us in 2014 and now looks after our maintenance for our clients with Michelle. Jen is also great at leak detection and general repairs. Clients will also get to know her if you are part of our startup/shutdowns bookings and everybody’s favourite Dragonfly experience besides our sparkling personalities…. invoicing.
Jen is also my better half and ultimately when I mess her schedules or the paperwork up, it is her I have to answer to… thus we know who the boss really is. Jen has brought her calming influence to Dragonfly and we are definitely better off with her behind the wheel.
Personally: Jen and her German Shorthaired Pointer “Solo”, have many adventures hiking in the hills. Many of these are hiking to the tops of mountains or treks like the West Coast Trail with Michelle. Jen also is heavily involved in our Halloween display. Caution, if you see someone standing there still and you touch them but it feels like it is stuffed full of potato chip bags and you think you’re safe… BE AFRAID!!
Michelle (Pond Ninja)
Michelle joined our team in 2013. Michelle helps look after our maintenance clients with Jen and is great with leak detection and general repairs. Michelle, also known as “muscles” for her digging skills in the past, has been able to step back from digging graves for Les (pondless feature wells) and has been able to pass the reins on to Aiden. As much as she misses working with Les, her days are probably, maybe, perhaps, possibly more enjoyable working with Jen. Michelle is definitely also our Sun Goddess, enjoying the sun and soaking up those rays for the past 10 years while wading through pond muck.
Personally: Michelle enjoys working in her yard and on her very cool water feature. Michelle is also a real adventurer and has explored and hiked too many amazing mountain tops and cool treks like the West Coast Trail, quite often with Jen.
Aiden (My Apprentice)
Aiden has been with us for over 3 years and has grown into our very own capable pond specialist. Aiden’s grasp of water features is very impressive and he has been a valued addition to the Dragonfly team. His fish whispering abilities to calm and move fish are becoming legendary. I chalk this up to the snake charming he has to do at home in order to feed his hungry slithery pets and reptiles. His work ethic is awesome and his ability to put up with Les’s amazing sense of humour is equally amazing. I’m sure he feels he doesn’t get paid enough to deal with my humour some days.
Personally: Aiden has many passions beyond his snakes and reptiles, He has a very cool plant collection and also likes to collect cactus, agaves and much more. Aiden also Is huge into our Halloween and man, is he a natural. He goes into character and it is absolutely amazing to watch his performance! Aiden and I enjoy many adventures, whether it is in search of new cool plants or looking for funky rocks and driftwood.
